NK LiNK for iOS allows the user to choose exporting a workout in a .FIT or .CSV file. However it actually exports it as a .zip file, which means I cannot upload it to Strava or other apps via my phone. Is this an error?

That is currently how it is implemented although we will probably change this at some point in the future. You should be able to use a application like Gotoes to assist with getting into Strava. Please see our blog post here: Otherwise you would need to email it to a device with a file server and pull out the FIT file and upload that way.
